Hey there!
Welcome to the site, chronicling the (mis)adventures of a 16 year old autistic genius, who dropped out of Walter Payton College Prep, in Chicago, and became a student of the Unschooling Method.
What is unschooling?
Unschooling is the idea that kids are natural learners and will educate themselves without a curriculum. And will teach themselves what they need to know, based on current life experiences and interests!
A Bit About Me.
I am Gabriel Tyson. A 16 year old kid with autism. I was diagnosed at age 8, and had a rough time dealing with it till around age 14. I would have frequent outbursts of anger, and do stuff that if I did it now, I would get arrested. I was always a Massive nerd though, reading (and writing) sci-fi and fantasy books, playing video games with my best friend Charlie. I was born in Fuckall Nowhere, Ohio and lived there till I was about 12, then my parents decided to move to famed fruit itself; the smelly onion! Also known as Chicago. What? You thought I meant the Big Apple? HAH! I wish. I guess it is a little bit misleading calling it a fruit... But whatever, the point is I was trucked 400 miles away from everything I knew and was thrown into a completely different environment, with no friends and half a family for a while. it wasn't until almost a year later when we sold our house and my dad finally moved up here. I enrolled that fall at Ogden International, in which I spent the next 2 years barely surviving the hurdles of middle school, graduated 8th grade and somehow was in the 3 percent of students that got accepted into Walter Payton College Prep, aaaaaaaaand thats where it started to decline... I started getting overwhelmed with the competitive environment of that school, and missed an entire semester due to not being able to get rid of the anxiety in the morning to get out the door. So, I dropped out.
And thats where the story begins...
SO!
Let the hunt for Halliday's whatever-the-fuck BEGIN!
(Once again: massive nerd. :)
